Willows Construction is currently looking for small equipment operators to join our team based out of Drayton Valley, Alberta.
** The preferred candidate should be a member of the Enoch Cree Nation and be prepared to present valid membership identification.
The selected candidate will be assigned to one or more work sites. As a small equipment operator, you will be reporting to site mentors or the site supervisor. Work sites can be overseen by the operations manager or Chief Operations Officer and can be assessed by the company HSE Coordinator.
The applicant will have knowledge of operating equipment to the direction of the site supervisor or assigned mentor. The role of this position is to assist in prepping work sites to completion standards. Assisting in tasks assigned to labourers and more experienced operators may also be required. Showing a willingness to follow instructions and learn improvements on equipment operations will advance the worker to greater work site responsibilities.
Understanding operating the equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures shows a desire to improve competency on the equipment. We would like to have operators that understand having clean equipment is part of the job as well as taking instructions and working as part of a team.
The daily tasks of the equipment operator involve showing up at the worksite at the designated time as advised by the site supervisor. Site safety meetings are required of all workers to participate in as well as any task hazard assessments. Input from all workers are invited to ensure a safe working environment.
Daily inspections of equipment as well as proper handling and control of equipment is expected of all operators. Follow instructions from the site supervisor as to the necessary tasks required of the operator to the development of the project.

The small equipment operator position requires the applicant having developed skills to operate equipment under the direction the site supervisor or with minimal supervision. The small equipment operator must be able to take instructions as given, provide feedback and demonstrate proper operation of equipment to complete assigned task(s). Physical labour and lifting may also be required.
